St. Louis Cardinals
Wacha was activated by the Cardinals on May 30 and made his major league debut at Busch Stadium against the Kansas City Royals.
Prior to his promotion, he was 4–0 with a 2.05 ERA in nine starts for Memphis. Wacha was on a major league mound for the first time just 364 days after tossing his final pitch for Texas A&M.
Wacha singled to right-center field in his debut at-bat in the majors. On the mound, he showed off his tremendous pitching prowess, retiring the first 13 Royals he faced before giving up a hit, a double in the fifth inning. After another hit, that runner scored.
