At Parkland College, where he was twice named an NJCAA All-American, his high school won a state championship in Indiana, and his team won a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship.
Kiermaier is known for his strong outfield defense, strong throwing arm, incredible closing speed, and prowess at stealing home runs.
As a result, in 2015, 2016, and 2019, he won Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for center fielders. On September 30, 2013, he made his Major League Baseball debut, which was also game 163 of the regular season and a wild-card tiebreaker game.
Kiermaier was a member of the baseball team at Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At the conclusion of his senior year, Bishop Luers claimed the state title.

During Parkland’s first season, the team took home the NJCAA National Championship trophy. When Kiermaier was a sophomore at Parkland, the National Junior College Athletic Association named him an All-American.
