Kevin Plawecki was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, to parents Lynne and Jeff Plawecki. He’d always wanted to be a baseball player since he was a child and he is now an American professional baseball catcher with the Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
When Kevin’s parents sent him to Westfield High School in Westfield, Indiana, he wasted little time in joining the school’s official baseball team.
Plawecki was named to an All-State Class 4A honourable mention as a catcher by the time he was in his final year of high school.
Kevin was not picked in the MLB draft despite his exceptional performance, so he went to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and became a member of the Purdue Boilermakers baseball team.
The New York Mets selected him in the supplemental first round of the amateur draft in 2012. In 125 games for two separate clubs last season, he hit.305/.390/.448 with 38 doubles and 80 RBIs.
In the 2014 Futures Game, he was the starting catcher for the United States.
