Kyle Harris’s Higashioka, who was born on April 20, 1990, is an American professional baseball catcher with the Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees (MLB). He was taken in the seventh round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft and made his MLB debut in 2017.
Higashioka went to Huntington Beach’s Edison High School. He was a member of the high school baseball team and then committed to the University of California, Berkeley to play college baseball for the Golden Bears.
Higashioka also studied Spanish in high school and now communicates with his Latin American teammates in Spanish.
Higashioka told his mother, Diane, that he would attend college and is currently enrolled in mechanical engineering programs at Orange Coast College.

Higashioka batted.170/.228/.327 in 147 at-bats in 2012 with the Class A-Advanced Florida State League’s Tampa Yankees and Trenton Thunder.
Due to Tommy John surgery and a fractured thumb, he only appeared in 13 games in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
A minor league free agent following the 2015 season, he played for the Tampa Yankees in 2015. During the offseason, he re-signed with the Yankees.
