How did Louie Simmons Die?

On March 24th, 2022, the legendary Louie Simmons passed away at his home due to certain health concerns at the age of 74.

The last few years had been difficult for Simmons, who had been battling kidney and other health difficulties.

Despite the doctor’s advice, Simmons checked himself out of the hospital, and his death is still under investigation.

 

Who is Louie Simmons

Simmons is revered as the founder of modern powerlifting and a cultural hero for his role in revolutionizing the way individuals build physical power.

At Westside Barbell, Simmons was renowned for his extraordinary work ethic and unparalleled knowledge.

He was born on October 12th, 1947. In his early twenties, he discovered his passion for weight training and entered the world of powerlifting.

For the next half a century, he mentored several of the sport’s top athletes, including Chuck Vogelphol, Dave Tate, Jim Wendler, and J.M. Blakely.

The Conjugate Method, developed by Simmons, helped popularize the use of resistance bands and chains in workouts. Simmons was a true innovator in the field of strength training.

Many of Simmons’ inventions, such as the reverse hyper and belt the squat machine, have been ascribed to him as an inventor in the field.
