Michael Anthony Taylor is a professional baseball player who plays the centre fielder position for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball(MLB). He was born March 26, 1991, in Fort Lauder Dale in Florida, United States.
Michael began his non-professional career at the Westminster Academy. In 2009, he was drafted out of high school during the MLB draft by the Washington Nationals baseball team. They selected him during their sixth-round pick upon which he signed with the Nationals and forwent playing college baseball at the University of North Florida.
Michael became a versatile infielder for the Gulf Coast League when he was unable to make his minor league debut with the Nationals in 2010. In August 2014, he was called up by the Nationals when a player was placed on the 15-day disabled list. He made his MLB debut with them that year when the Nationals played against the New York Mets.
In October 2020, the Nationals made it known that Michael had cleared waivers and was elected free agency. The Kansas City Royals then signed a one-year contract worth $1.75 million with him in November 2020. The following year in September, he signed a two-year contract extension worth $9 million.
