Michael Wacha, full name Michael Joseph Wacha is a professional baseball player who pitches for the Boston Red Sox baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He was born July 1, 1991, in Iowa City, Iowa in the United States of America. He is the second born of four siblings.
Michael had his high school amateur career at Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas. He had an interest in basketball as well so he played both baseball and basketball in school. After high school, Michael got admitted to Texas A&M University. At the University, he played baseball for the school till he graduated.
After his college education, Michael signed with the St Louis Cardinals team in 2012 but before the signing, he was drafted by the team in the first round of the 19th overall selection of the 2012 MLB draft. The Cardinals signed him for a $1.9 million Salary. A year after being with the Cardinals, he was activated and made his MLB debut.
Michael played for the Cardinals for nine solid years after which he signed a one year contract with the New York Mets team for the 2020 baseball season. Upon the expiration of the Mets contract, the Tampa Bay Rays team signed him on a one-year contract that was worth $3 million. In November 2021, the Boston Red Sox team also signed a one-year contract that is rumoured to be worth $7 million with him.
