Mwai Kibaki, whose full name is Emilio Mwai Kibaki is a Kenyan former president who died on April 21, 2022, at the age of 90 years old. The Kenyan politician whose death came as a shock served as the third President Of Kenya from December 2002 until 2013. Mai Kibaki was born on November 15, 1931. No disturbing cause of death was recorded, however, he was known to have died from old age.

Before becoming president, he served as Kenya’s fourth Vice-President for ten years, from 1978 to 1988. When we look at his full life history, we can see that he was a political activist who served as an opposition member of parliament from 1992 to 2002.

He also held various government roles, including Minister of Finance under Kenyatta from 1969 to 1981, Minister of Home Affairs from 1982 to 1988, and then Minister of Health under Moi from 1988 to 1991.

He was elected President of Kenya in the 2002 presidential election after defeating a difficult opponent. When we look at his early life, we can see that he was born in Gatuyaini Village in Kenya’s Othaya division. His parents were Kikuyu peasants Kibaki Githinji and Teresia Wanjiku, and he was their youngest son. He, too, began his formal education at Gatuyaini.

Mwai Kibaki Funeral Date

The funeral has yet to be scheduled. Mr. Kenyatta stated that the late President would be given a State funeral with full military honors and procedure.

“The President, the Deputy President, the Chief Justice, Cabinet Secretaries, the Speakers of the National Assembly and Senate, Kenya diplomats abroad and whomsoever else is so authorized by law, shall not fly the national flag on their official motorcade from today until sunset on the day of Kibaki’s internment,” said Mr. Kenyatta.
