Natalie Portman is an American actress of Israeli descent.

She has had a long and successful career in film, having starred in both blockbusters and indie films, for which she has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and two Golden Globe Awards.

At the age of twelve, Portman made her acting debut in the action-drama film Léon: The Professional, playing the young protégée of a hitman (1994).

She made her Broadway debut as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace while still in high school (1999).

While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Harvard University from 1999 to 2003, Portman continued to perform in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (2002, 2005) and The Public Theater’s 2001 revival of Anton Chekhov’s play The Seagull.

For her role as a mystery stripper in the romantic drama Closer, Portman was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and won a Golden Globe Award.

Portman’s career continued with leading roles in films such as V for Vendetta (2005), The Other Boleyn Girl (2008), and Black Swan (2010), for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Actress.

She went on to star in the romantic comedy No Strings Attached (2011) and the drama Jackie (2016), which garnered her a third Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy.
