Rayfield Wright, a former Dallas Cowboys icon and Pro Football Hall of Famer, died on Thursday, according to his widow Di Wright. He died at the age of 76.
Wright had spent the previous three days in the hospital after suffering a severe seizure. The Cowboys were his team for the whole 13-year span of his NFL career (1967-1979). He appeared in 188 games during his career and won two Super Bowls.
Larry Rayfield Wright (August 23, 1945 – April 7, 2022) was an offensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).
He played for the Cowboys for 13 seasons. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, he is a part of the team that won the Super Bowl.
Wright, nicknamed “Big Cat” for his quick feet, was a member of five NFC Championship teams that proceeded to the Super Bowl, winning thrice (1970, 1971, 1975, 1977, and 1978 seasons).
In his debut season in 1967, he also played in the Ice Bowl against the Green Bay Packers for the NFL title.
