Reese McGuire is an American professional baseball catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB).

McGuire, fellow prospect Harold Ramirez, and pitcher Francisco Liriano were traded from the Pirates to the Toronto Blue Jays in return for pitcher Drew Hutchison.

He completed out the season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, batting .226 with five RBI in 15 games and 53 at-bats.

He got back to the Fisher Cats for the 2017 season yet was restricted to just 45 games in the wake of experiencing a torn meniscus in his right knee that required an arthroscopic medical procedure to fix.

In the wake of experiencing the knee injury toward the beginning of May, McGuire had the option to get back to Double-A toward the beginning of August, and not long after his return, McGuire’s homers in three successive games acquired him Eastern League Player of the Week respects for the week finishing August 20.

In his restricted appearances in 2017, McGuire batted .295 with six grand slams and 28 RBI in 149 at-bats.

On November 20, 2017, McGuire was added to Toronto’s 40-man list. He played for the Buffalo Bisons of the Class AAA International League in 2018.
