Meet Rod Marsh’s Son Daniel Marsh
Daniel James Marsh, a former Australian cricketer who led the Tasmanian Tigers, was born on June 14, 1973. He was a right-handed batter and a decent slow left-arm orthodox spinner.
He was the son of former Australian wicketkeeper Rod Marsh. Early in his career, he represented South Australia and Leicestershire County Cricket Club in county cricket.
Dan Marsh was a strong ball-striker who could occupy the crease for extended periods of time. When the Tasmanians won the ING Cup in 2004–05, it was only their second such trophy.
In the end, he scored a half-century. Marsh led Tasmania to its first Pura Cup final triumph in 2006–07, as a stand-in captain in the absence of Australian Test captain Ricky Ponting, and also captained the Tigers to their third domestic one-day trophy when they won the Ford Ranger Cup in 2007–08.
Ricky Ponting was the official Tasmanian cricket captain from 2001/02 until he announced his retirement on November 21, 2007.
This was essentially a ceremonial appointment in order for the Australian captain to also be the Tasmanian captain.
Marsh, his Vice-Captain, effectively assumed leadership responsibilities on most occasions and was appointed outright once Ponting stepped down.
At the completion of the 2009–10 Australian domestic season, he announced his retirement from First Class Cricket.
