Before going to the United States, Bolanos played for Mayabeque of the Cuban National Series. On August 11, 2016, he signed as an international free agent with the San Diego Padres. On September 3, 2019, he made his main league debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ronald was traded to the Kansas City Royals on July 16, 2020, and has remained with them to this day. Following a right forearm strain, he was placed on the team’s 60-day disabled list in June 2021 and was activated off the list on September 12 2020.
