Ryan Scott Thompson, an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball, was born on June 26, 1992. (MLB). Thompson is a pitcher who throws like a submarine.

Thompson played collegiate baseball for Chemeketa Community College and Campbell University after graduating from Cascade HighSchool  in Turner, Oregon. He briefly played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Hyannis Harbor Hawks in 2013.

In the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, the Houston Astros selected him in the 23rd round. He was a member of the Astros organization from 2017 to 2018, when he was sidelined by an injury, and he attained the AAA Fresno Grizzlies.

In the minor league phase of the 2018 Rule 5 Draft, the Tampa Bay Rays selected Thompson. In the year 2020, he was named to the Rays’ Opening Day roster. He debuted in MLB on July 24, 2020. He has a 4.44 ERA in 2020, going 1-2 with one save.

Thompson was placed on the 60-day disabled list on August 3rd in 2021 after being shut down in late June due to right shoulder irritation. Thompson will have surgery to correct thoracic outlet syndrom on September 24, 2021, according to reports.
