Shane McClanahan is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Shane attended Cape Coral High School in Cape Coral, Florida.

During his secondary school career, he went 29-7 with a 1.02 acquired run normal (ERA) and 187 strikeouts in 123 innings pitched.

He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 26th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He didn’t sign with the Mets and went to the University of South Florida (USF), where he played school baseball.

McClanahan didn’t play his first year at USF in 2016, in the wake of going through Tommy John’s medical procedure.

He got back from the injury to begin 15 games in 2017 as a redshirt first-year recruit, going 4-2 with a 3.20 ERA and 104 strikeouts more than 76 innings.

In 2018, as a redshirt sophomore, he was 5-6 with a 3.42 ERA in 14 starts.
