Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was a santoor player and classical Indian musician who died on May 10, 2022. Shama, an Indian classical musician, is credited with modifying the Santoor for Indian classical music.
He is recognized for composing music for several Indian films, partnering with musicians such as flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia and others under the moniker Shiv-Hari. She received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986, just before her death. She was also awarded the Padma Bhushan.
Sharma was born in Jammu in present-day Jammu and Kashmir in the India Union territory. His father is known as Uma Dutt Sharma who was a renowned vocalist and Tabla performer. His dad was a contributing factor to his great heights. For the santoor, in particular, Sharma began learning it at the age of thirteen and made his first public appearance on it in Mumbai in 1955.
He began his professional career performing the Santoor with his dad. He was recognized for introducing the Indian classical instrument (santoor). His first solo record was in the year 1960.

Shivkumar Sharma died on May 10, 2022, as a result of a cardiac arrest. He passed away at the age of 84. His funeral arrangements and service are yet to be made known to the public.
