The Texas Rangers will commemorate the 50th anniversary of their relocation from Washington with a commemorative logo patch as well as a series of throwback uniform games.
The 50th-anniversary patch was introduced in November and depicts the number 50 with the cowboy hat and baseball from the Texas Rangers’ original emblem placed within the “0.” The patch will be applied to the right sleeve of the team’s home, road, and alternative jerseys.
The five games in which the 1972 Texas Rangers jerseys will be worn in 2022 are as follows:
Saturday, April 30th vs. Atlanta Braves
Saturday, June 25th, against the Washington Nationals
Saturday, August 13th, against the Seattle Mariners
Sunday, September 25th, against the Cleveland Guardians
The New York Yankees visit on Wednesday, October 5.
Rangers Hall of Famers Tom Grieve, Toby Harrah, Ferguson Jenkins, Jim Sundberg, Al Oliver, Jeff Burroughs, and Dick Bosman, who began that first game in Anaheim on April 15, 1972, are among those expected to participate in the April 15-16 weekend.
Burroughs, Harrah, and Oliver will be at the New Era Alumni Autograph Alley on the Globe Life Field main concourse on Friday, April 15 from 5:15-6:15, while Bosman, Jenkins, and Sundberg will be there on Saturday, April 16 from 4:15-5:15.
The Rangers have stated that this timetable is subject to change.
