Tyler Glasnow Injury Updates:

Tyler Glasnow, a pitcher for the Rays, is set to have Tommy John surgery next week to repair a ruptured UCL.
Glasnow was placed on the 10-day disabled list in June after suffering a partial tear in his UCL and a flexor strain.

Initially, he chose to go to rehab rather than have surgery. Glasnow is expected to return to Tampa Bay for the 2022 season.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Glasnow’s throwing session with the Rays on Friday did not go well. While the procedure isn’t set in stone yet, Glasnow intends to speak with Dr. Keith Meister, a Tommy John surgery expert.

It’s possible, however, that the 27-year-old won’t pitch again until 2023, his final season before entering free agency. Glasnow has 123 strikeouts in 88 innings in 14 starts this season.

Glasnow was one of the pitchers that did not shy away from using foreign drugs, particularly sunscreen and rosin, and he recently offered his thoughts on the league’s crackdown on foreign substance use.
