The identity of the children who died in the shooting is still being revealed, with the death of Uziyah, a nine-year-old girl, confirmed by her family late Tuesday.
Uziyah Garcia, who would have been ten this summer, was in fourth grade.
Manny Renfro, a grandfather, said he found out on Tuesday that his grandson, eight-year-old Uziyah Garcia, was one of the school massacre victims.
Mr Renfro called his grandson the “sweetest young boy he’d ever known.”
“I’m not saying that just because he’s my grandson.”
Mr Renfro recalls the sweet times they enjoyed together when the eight-year-old last visited him in San Angelo during his school holidays.
“I began teaching him pass patterns as we began throwing the football together. He was a quick small boy who could catch a ball with ease “Mr. Renfro explained.
“There were some plays that I’d call that he’d recall and perform just as we had practiced.”
A family member has set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist his parents in raising funds for the funeral. By Tuesday night, the family had raised more than $24,000.
