What Happened Jameson Taillon?

Taillon had testicular cancer removed during surgery.

Approximately 48 hours after Taillon’s late-night discovery, the Pirates returned to Pittsburgh on Thursday, May 4.

When Taillon stared at the screen projecting an image of his left testicle the next morning, he felt a buzz travel through the base of his spine, which was caused by an unapproved ultrasound performed by a Pirates doctor.

Neal Huntington, the general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, issued a statement confirming that pitcher Jameson Taillon had surgery Monday for suspected testicular cancer.

Monday, May 8, in order to have his left testicle surgically removed. Jordan maintained constant communication with the family, providing updates that couldn’t come fast enough.

A posting on social media following the surgery stated, in part, “Today I lost a chunk of my ‘Manhood.'”

On a warm June night at PNC Park, Jameson took the mound to face the Colorado Rockies, exactly five weeks after undergoing the surgery.

The contents of his locker were crammed with letters and get-well cards. While he warmed up before the game, the spectators held signs and leaned over the outfield wall to cheer him on.

When he walked from the dugout to the mound to begin the game, the crowd stood and applauded him enthusiastically.
