Chad Keith Green was born May 24, 1991, in California He is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). In 2016, he made his MLB debut as a starter for the Yankees, before moving to relief in 2017.
As a senior at Effingham High School in Effingham, Illinois, Green was a three-time All-Apollo Conference pick, a two-time All-Area honoree, and an All-State honoree. Green was drafted in the 37th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays out of high school. He began his professional career with the Detroit Tigers after being drafted in the 11th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.
Green and Luis Cessa were traded to the New York Yankees for Justin Wilson on December 9, 2015. On February 5, 2016, he was invited to spring training as a non-roster player. He began the season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Green was optioned to the Rail Riders by the Yankees at the end of spring training in 2017. Green was called up to the Yankees on May 8. Green made his season debut with the Yankees on May 9 and spent the majority of the season as a reliever.
