The Yankees picked Urshela’s contract on April 6, 2019, following Miguel Andujar’s right shoulder labrum tear.

Urshela started the season with a.352 batting average and continued to play for the Yankees after Andujar returned temporarily in May, however, Andujar soon decided to have season-ending surgery.
