What Nationality is Tim Mayza?
Tim Mayza is an American. He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States
As a left-handed pitcher, Tim Mayza rose fast in the Blue Jays’ farm system in the last couple of years.
Mayza’s ERAs were in the high sixes and lower during his first two seasons in our system.
His fortunes began to change in 2015. A 3.07 earned run average was posted by him in Dunedin, Florida, in 2015. While playing in Dunedin and New Hampshire, he posted a 2.25 ERA.
While pitching for both New Hampshire and Buffalo last year, he posted a 3.25 ERA. While in Toronto for the rest of the season (in mid-August), he came up to Toronto.
In 17 innings, he had a 6.88 earned run average. Three home runs were among the 24 hits he allowed in 17 innings.
That was the unfortunate part of it all. What’s up with that, then? He did not walk once during his 27-game hitting streak.
A strikeout-to-walk ratio of 34.2% and a walk rate of 5.1% are both excellent. His FIP stood at 2.98. As a result, it is possible that he was extremely unlucky.
He seemed to get either a strikeout or a big hit with every batter he faced, and there was little in between. First impressions are everything when it comes to Tim, who appears to be the very definition of a LOOGY.
While left-handers hit .239/.255/.348 against him, right-handers pounded him for .448/500/.793 averages in his two seasons in the majors.
