The New York Yankees’ Jordan Blackmon Montgomery is an American professional baseball pitcher (MLB). In 2017, he made his MLB debut. Montgomery played college baseball for the South Carolina Gamecocks prior to his professional career.
During his high school years, Montgomery was a student at Sumter High School. While attending high school, he was voted the state’s most valuable sportsman.
Montgomery attended the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the baseball team known as the Gamecocks. To his credit, he was named SEC Freshman of the Week and a Freshman All-American on April 9, 2012.
Following his collegiate season, he went on to pitch for the Gulf Coast Yankees of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League and the Staten Island Yankees of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League, compiling a 1–1 record with a 3.79 ERA in 19 innings while playing for both teams.
In 2015, he began the season with the Charleston RiverDogs of the Class A South Atlantic League. After being released by the New York Yankees in June, he was sent to the Tampa Yankees of the Florida State League’s Class A Advanced division.
Prior to being promoted to the Class AAA International League’s Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in August, Montgomery spent the majority of the 2016 season with the Trenton Thunder of the Class AA Eastern League.
