According to Cubs.com, Brooks Raley, a great pitcher and outfielder from Uvalde, has signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs.

Raley, a left-handed pitcher, was drafted in the sixth round. According to the website, he signed for $750,000, which is substantially above the average for a sixth-round pick.

He hit .304 for A&M and went 7-3 with a 3.76 ERA as the team’s Friday-night starter. Raley, a sophomore who turned 21 in June and was eligible for the draft, was named to the All-Big 12 first team unanimously.

He was the last of the Cubs’ draft picks to sign a contract.

Aside from three brief appearances with Chicago, he spent the entirety of 2013 with the Iowa Cubs, a Class AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs in the Pacific Coast League.

Raley was picked up by the Minnesota Twins on waivers on February 12th, 2014. On May 8, the Twins designated him for assignment and he was picked up by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim off waivers.
