Where did Josh Fleming go to College?
Josh Flemings attended Webster University. The Tampa Bay Rays selected Fleming in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB draft out of Webster University.
Fleming is the second player from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) to be drafted in the Major League Baseball draft, but the first from both Webster and the SLIAC to reach the majors.
From 2015 to 2017, he set Webster single-season records for ERA and strikeouts, as well as allowing the second lowest opponents’ batting average (.165).
He was a fifth-round pick by the Rays in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, and in 294 minor league innings, he had a 22-13 record, 3.40 ERA, and 214 strikeouts.
Fleming debuted in the major leagues on Aug. 23 against the Toronto Blue Jays in the third game of a four-game set.
On Sept. 27, he pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Rays to a 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Tropicana Field, capping off the regular season in 2020.
In 32.1 innings of work, he was 5-0 with a 2.78 ERA, seven walks, and 25 strikeouts.
The Rays, who won the American League, finished the 2020 season by losing in the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games.
Fleming, who pitched three innings in Game 5 of the ALCS against the Houston Astros and 2.2 innings in Game 1 of the World Series against the Dodgers, was on the Rays’ roster for both the ALCS and the World Series.
