Kevin Jeffrey Plawecki (born February 26, 1991) is an American professional baseball catcher for Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox (MLB).
He formerly played for the New York Mets and Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball. Plawecki was a standout pitcher for Westfield High School.
He was an All-American in college and was voted Big Ten Conference Baseball Player of the Year in 2012. In the 2012 MLB draft, the Mets selected him with the 35th overall pick.
Plawecki was born on February 26, 1991, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Jeff and Lynne Plawecki. He went to Westfield High School in Westfield, Indiana, and was a member of the baseball team.
The Mets traded Plawecki to the Cleveland Indians on January 6, 2019, for Walker Lockett and Sam Haggerty. The Red Sox signed Plawecki to a one-year, $900,000 deal on January 3, 2020.

He was named All-Big Ten Conference at catcher, a feat that had not been accomplished by a Purdue player in 52 years. Only 10 of his 211 at-bats resulted in a strikeout, the lowest rate in the Big Ten and the 13th lowest in NCAA Division I.
