Yonny Enrique Chirinos Mejias, a Venezuelan baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball, was born on December 26, 1993. (MLB).

Chirinos, a Venezuelan international free agent, signed with the Tampa Bay Rays in June 2012 for a $10,000 signing bonus.

In 2013, he pitched in the Venezuelan Summer League for the Rays, where he spent the entire season, going 3-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 13 appearances (12 starts).

While pitching for the Princeton Rays in 2014 and the Charlotte Stone Crabs, Hudson Valley Renegades and Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2015, he amassed a combined 5-5 record, 1.82 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 15 games (13 starts).

During the course of 2016, Chirinos appeared in 29 games for Bowling Green, Charlotte, and the Montgomery Biscuits, going 12-4 with a 3.36 ERA in that time.

Chirinos was a member of the Durham Bulls in 2017 as well as Montgomery. He finished the season with a 13–5 record, a 2.73 ERA, and 141 strikeouts, and was awarded the Rays’ minor league pitcher of the year. He was later added to the Rays’ 40-man roster.
