On December 17, 2021, Thomas Allan Garner, age 84, died away quietly in the presence of his adoring family. He was Ruth’s devoted husband of 63 years, and his closest friend since they were in elementary school together.

He was Dad to Brian and Sandra and also best friend and grandfather to Cory and Jordan. He is survived by his sister Mary Jane. Bob and Larry, Tom’s brothers, are his only surviving relatives. Friends and family members will deeply miss him.

The Midland Golf and Country Club and Georgian Bay Hunters & Anglers Club were two of his favorite places to spend time. He was an enthusiastic golfer, hockey player, hunter, and fisherman, and was inducted into the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame (Team) and the Midland Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in these sports (Team).

The Midland Centennial Junior C Hockey Club belonged to Tom Garner, the owner of Garner’s Sports Midland. He supported a wide range of local sports teams and organizations, including a number of youth sports leagues.

Professionals who assisted us over the course of 16 years are greatly appreciated. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom, who served as an excellent example of how to bear one’s load with honesty, dignity, and without complaint.

Cremation has been carried out in accordance with Tom’s wishes, and he will be buried with his family. Donations to the Spinal Cord Injury of Ontario can be made in memory of a loved one.
