Where did Shane Baz go to College?

Baz went to Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, Texas, for his secondary education. Shane only committed to playing college baseball at Texas Christian University until he was drafted by the Pirates.

As a junior, he posted a 1.06 earned run average (ERA) across 23 innings pitched while striking out 46 batters. In 2016, Baz was a member of the United States national soccer team.

Baz has committed to play college baseball at Texas Christian University (TCU). The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, despite the fact that he was considered one of the best prospects available.

He signed a contract with the Pirates a few days after being selected in the draft.

With the Gulf Coast League Pirates in 2017, Baz had a 3–0 record and 3.80 ERA in 23+23 innings pitched, compiling a 0–3 record and a 3.80 ERA.

As of the start of the 2018 season, MLB.com ranked Baz as the third best prospect in the organization. He was a pitcher for the Bristol Pirates of the Appalachian League’s Rookie-level organization.

It was announced on July 2, 2021, that Baz would be a member of the United States Baseball Team, which will compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

It was a disappointing silver medal for the squad, as they fell to Japan in the gold medal game.
