Francisco José Meja was born on October 27, 1995, and is a Dominican professional baseball catcher and outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball. (MLB).

In Major League Baseball, he formerly played for the Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres. Meja was born in the village of Bani in the Dominican Republic. Las Carreras de Ban was where he acquired his education.

Meja signed a one-year, $100,000 contract with the Cleveland Indians in July 2012. He had a.243/.324/.345 batting line in 2015, with nine home runs and 53 RBIs.

He had a 24-game hitting streak in 2016. In 2017, Meja received his first promotion to the Major Leagues. Going into the 2018 season, MLB.com had him listed as Cleveland’s #1 prospect.

On July 19, 2018, he was sent to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Brad Hand and Adam Cimber. He was then sold to the Tampa Bay Rays on December 29, 2020, along with prospects Luis Patio, Blake Hunt, and Cole Wilcox, for Blake Snell and currently serving as the baseball catcher and outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays
