Amy Schumer focused on Leonardo DiCaprio during the initial discourse at the Oscars 2022.
Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall hosted the current year’s function, beginning with a discourse in which they made jokes focused on The Power of the Dog, JK Simmons, and Samuel L Jackson.
After Sykes and Hall left the stage, Schumer made jests about King Richard and Being the Ricardos. Nonetheless, her kid about Don’t Look Up drew the greatest pants, because of her remarks about a lead entertainer, DiCaprio.
“Leonardo DiCaprio is accomplishing such a great deal for the planet,” Schumer said, adding: “He will leave it in a superior shape for his sweethearts.”
Many actors in the audience, including Will Smith, Timothée Chalamet and Jessica Chastain, gasped, covering their heads with their hands.
Amy previously joked that she sought legal council before co-hosting the Oscars, telling The View, “Coming out of this pandemic, I really feel like performing. I’m really excited to do this, and I’m also like, you know, a mean-spirited comedian. I consulted my lawyer, and he said, ‘You can’t say half of those things,’ so the ones that I can say, I’m going to!”
She also told The Ellen Show that she expects to be “freshly canceled” after the show, saying, “It’s not that I make a plan, I just have poor impulse control. I think it and then it’s too late and I’m over.” But she added that she wasn’t that nervous, saying “I think that’s what stand-up does to you. It goes so bad that you lose that fear. But I do have trouble sleeping.”
