Amanda Marie Knox is an author, activist, and journalist from the United States.

Following her unjust conviction for the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, a fellow exchange student with whom she shared an apartment in Perugia, she spent nearly four years in an Italian prison.

The Italian Supreme Court of Cassation acquitted Knox conclusively in 2015.

Knox, who was 20 at the time of the murder, contacted the cops after arriving home to find Kercher’s bedroom door closed and blood in the bathroom after a night out with her lover, Raffaele Sollecito.

Knox allegedly implicated herself and her boss, Patrick Lumumba, in the murder during the police interrogations that followed, the conduct of which is a point of contention.

Knox, Sollecito, and Lumumba were initially detained in connection with Kercher’s death, but Lumumba was shortly released.

Knox and Sollecito were found guilty and sentenced to 26 and 25 years in jail, respectively, at their first trial.

Following the discovery of his bloodstained fingerprints on Kercher’s belongings, a known burglar, Rudy Guede, was apprehended a short time later.

In a quick trial, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison, which was later reduced to 16 years.

An Italian court determined on December 4, 2020, that Guede might finish his sentence by performing community service.
