Cimber isn’t scheduled to report to his new team until Wednesday. Even though the Blue Jays have won eight of their previous nine games, their bullpen has remained inconsistent.

Cimber is expected to calm things down and maybe provide Charlie Montoyo with a high-leverage option late in the game.

Cimber had a 2.88 ERA and a 1.194 WHIP across 33 games and 34.1 innings with his old team, the Miami Marlins.

His sidearm technique will give the bullpen a new lease on life and should help keep some of the AL East’s most potent right-handed hitters away.

Cimber also pitched effectively in those situations, with a 0.00 ERA in the ninth, 1.00 in the sixth, and 2.35 in the eighth.

It’s not critical to pay attention to whatever inning he’s throwing, but the key is that he’s used to pitching later in the game.

What’s more, he’s not a strikeout pitcher, having only struck out 21 batters in 34.1 innings. He does, however, throw strikes and force hitters to make poor contact.

He’s only walked 11 batters all season (15 if you count four intentional walks), and he hasn’t allowed a home run.

We witnessed how difficult it can be to hit a home run in the Marlins’ home park last week, but that’s still an incredible statistic.
