Estevan Haniel Florial, born November 25, 1997 in Barahona, Dominican Republic, is a Dominican-Haitian Major League Baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees (MLB). In the year 2020, he made his Major League Baseball debut.

Estevan Florial was born and reared in the Dominican Republic’s capital, Santo Domingo. Because his mother was born in Haiti, he has dual citizenship.

He was wrongly reported as being born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, during his first couple of years with the Yankees organization, which would have made him a forerunner to being the first Haitian-born Major League player.

In 2014, Florial joined the New York Yankees as Haniel d’Oleo. However, since he was unable to submit a birth document, the contract was invalidated, and he re-signed with the Yankees in 2015 under the name Estevan Florial.

That season, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Yankees 1, hitting.313 in 57 games with seven home runs and 53 RBIs.

For the year 2016, he split time between the Pulaski Yankees, the Charleston RiverDogs, and the Tampa Yankees, where he hit a combined.227 with eight home runs and thirty RBIs in 67 games with the three teams.

Charleston was Florial’s first game of the 2017 season. In July, he played in the All-Star Futures Game.

At the end of the season after making the leap from Charleston to Tampa in August after posting a.303/.368/.461 line with two homers and 14 RBIs in 19 games, it was announced that he would return to Charleston for the remainder of 2017.

The Yankees sent him to Trenton Thunder for the playoffs, but he didn’t play a minute of action.
