American philanthropist and former television journalist, Merri Dee has died. She is reported to have died on March 16, 2022, at the age of 85.
Dee spent every last bit of her profession with WGN-TV, Channel 9 – first as a journalist and staff commentator from 1972 until 1983, and afterward as overseer of local area relations until she resigned from the station in 2008.
An alum of Englewood High School in Chicago, Dee started her telecom career at WBEE radio in south rural Harvey in 1966.
She changed to TV two years after the fact, facilitating programs on WCIU-TV 26 and afterward WSNS-TV 44.
It was while working at WSNS-TV in 1971 that Dee and one of her visitors, clairvoyant Alan Sandler, were arrested external the station.
Each was shot in the head, and Sandler was killed, while Dee was left for dead. However, Dee figured out how to slither away and look for help.
