Frank O’Farrell died of a natural cause. As of now, the Families of Frank O’Farrell are yet to bring out the autopsy report as to what caused his death.

Frank O’Farrell, the 94-year-old former Manchester United manager, died on Monday 6 March 2022. The Irishman was the second United manager to try to replace Sir Matt Busby, and he was in control at Old Trafford from July 1971 to December 1972.

O’Farrell was born and reared in Cork, where he began his football career with his hometown club before transferring to West Ham United and subsequently Preston North End in England.

After the success under Busby, the O’Farrell had to deal with a rebuild at United. He won 30 of his 81 games in command.

United led the league after only losing one of O’Farrell’s first 14 games in charge, but they couldn’t keep up and finished eighth in 1971/72.

O’Farrell had to persuade George Best to come out of retirement, and despite a rousing start to his tenure, Best faded into the background.

After a humiliating 5-0 loss to Crystal Palace in December 1972, O’Farrell was fired 18 months into the job, leaving United in third place in the Premier League. Tommy Doherty took his place.

O’Farrell went on to manage Cardiff City, the Iran national team, Torquay, and Al-Shaab in the United Arab Emirates after leaving United.
