Cornerstone Church is a church located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Interstate 35 in Ames, Iowa. The church’s mission statement is “helping people know and obey Jesus”.
In 1994, Cornerstone Church grew out of its beginnings as a ministry for Iowa State University undergraduate students that was affiliated with Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Ames. This ministry had its roots in Cornerstone Church.
Because this college ministry, The Salt Company, was growing to be larger than the congregation of the church, Grand Avenue Baptist Church granted permission for the leaders of The Salt Company to create a new organization that would later be known as Cornerstone Church.
