Mike Shildt: What Happened To Mike Shildt At St. Louis Cardinals?
Mike Shildt was surprisingly fired by the St. Louis Cardinals on October 14, 2021. The 2020 and 2021 seasons both ended in losses at the National League Wild Card Game.
According to an article published by USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale, the St. Louis Cardinals never specified the reasons he was dismissed beyond citing “philosophical differences.”
Shildt who is now temporarily filling in as third base coach for the San Diego Padres said; “I have a broken heart,’’ Nightengale. “It still hurts. It hurts bad. When it first happened, I broke down. I was inconsolable.”
