Prince Philip’s Cause of Death
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the world’s longest-serving royal consort and husband of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, died on April 9, 2021, two months before his 100th birthday, at the age of 99, in Windsor Castle.
He “died peacefully,” according to the royal family’s official statement. His funeral was held on April 17th. The cause of death was listed as “old age” on the death certificate, which was signed by Sir Huw Thomas, the head of the Royal Medical Household.
How Did Prince Philip Die?
The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, died on April 9, 2021, at the age of 97. In 2012, he was sent to the hospital with a bladder infection, and in 2018, he had hip replacement surgery.
When her husband died, the Queen was said to be by his bedside. After his death, the Duke’s daughter-in-law Sophie, Countess of Wessex, characterized his passing as “very lovely.”
The Duke was given a royal ceremonial funeral rather than a state funeral, as is customary for kings. He had expressed a desire for minimal “fuss,” therefore he did not lie in state, however, he did “lie at rest” at Windsor Castle’s private chapel prior to his service.
The coffin was brought from this chapel to the castle’s Inner Hall, where prayers were performed, before the service.
The Duke’s plans were stated to be for a military funeral at St George’s Chapel and burial alongside King George VI, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, and his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, in King George VI’s Memorial Chapel after she died.
