Prince Philip’s Cause of Death

Prince Philip died of old age. He died of natural causes at the age of 99.

Prince Philip’s cause of death has been established almost a month after his death

The news that the Duke of Edinburgh had died at the age of 99 was released by the royal family on April 9th. At the time, all that was said about his death was that he had ‘gone away quietly’ at Windsor Castle that morning.

Following a 28-day stay in hospital for an infection, which included treatment for a pre-existing cardiac issue, Prince Philip died.

However, his death certificate, which was signed by Sir Huw Thomas, the head of the royal medical household, indicated that there was no specific cause other than his age.

Her Majesty The Queen was announcing the loss of her ‘loving husband’ with ‘great grief,’ according to a statement released by the royal family at the time.

Many of the couple’s grandchildren, as well as their four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, paid tribute.

The funeral for Prince Philip was held on Saturday, April 17th, in Windsor’s St George’s Chapel, the same location where his grandchildren Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie were married in 2018.

Due to COVID limits, the televised service was only able to accommodate 30 mourners, rather than the anticipated 800.

Upon Buckingham Palace’s announcement that all mourners in St George’s Chapel were to sit in the Quire two meters apart from anyone who is not a member of their own household, Queen Elizabeth II sat by herself for the funeral service.

After the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, the royal family remained in official mourning for two weeks.
