How Did Sergey Protosenya Die?
According to local media, Sergey Protosenya is suspected of killing his wife Natalia and his 18-year-old daughter before killing himself in the courtyard of his property in Lloret de Mar on Spain’s Costa Brava.
Sergey Protosenya earned a fortune of roughly £330 million after graduating from Moscow University with a degree in civil engineering and serving as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of natural gas giant Novatek for more than seven years.
According to accounts, the Russian family was registered at the Lloret de Mar property but resided in France and used it as a second home.
Mr. Protosenya and his 53-year-old wife had two children together: the 18-year-old victim and a teen son who was in France at the time of the suspected murder spree.
When he couldn’t reach any of his family members, the adolescent son contacted the Mossos d’Esquadra, or Catalan police, on Tuesday.
Officers went to the villa and discovered Mr Protosenya dead in the courtyard before discovering his wife and teen daughter dead inside.
According to local sources, the police believe Mr Protosenya killed them both while they were sleeping with an axe.
On social media, the Protosenya family flaunted their opulent lifestyle.
They loved to golf and traveling around the world, and they frequently shared photos of their seemingly perfect lives on social media.
Mr Protosenya had no prior history of abuse, but investigators believe the deaths were motivated by gender, and the case is being investigated as femicide.
The police investigation is still ongoing.
