Mwai Kibaki, born Emilio Mwai Kibaki was mainly known to be a former president of Kenya. He was also a politician and a vice president too. He was the last born of Kibaki Gĩthĩnji and Teresia Wanjikũ. He was born November 15, 1931, in  Gatuyaini in Kenya and died in April 2022.

Mwai Kibaki attended Mathari School between 1944 and 1946 and then went to Karima Primary and Nyeri Boarding primary schools after which he had his high school education at Mang’u High School in 1947 and 1950. He had his undergraduate studies at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda where he studied economics, history and political science.

He then had his postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics where he studied BSc in public finance. After his postgraduate studies, he went back to Makerere University, his Alma Mater in 1958 where he taught as an Assistant Lecturer in the economics department until 1961.

He quit his lecturing job in 1961 and returned to Kenya where he got involved in active politics. In 1963, he was elected as Member of Parliament for Donholm Constituency in Nairobi. He was also made the Permanent Secretary for the treasury that year.
