Located in the Buffalo metropolitan area, the Buffalo Bills are a professional American football club. They are a part of the American Football Conference East division of the National Football League. Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, serves as the team’s home field.

The team has produced a good number of running backs over the years.

Here is a list of 5 of the Buffalo Bills Greatest Running Backs In History

1. Thurman Thomas

It’s safe to say that Thurman is one of the greatest Bills running backs of all time. His 11,938 rushing yards and 65 touchdowns make him the Bills’ all-time leading rusher. In addition, he had 456 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns. In the Bills’ history, he is one of the finest drafts picks because he was the 40th pick out of Oklahoma State.

2. O.J. Simpson

O.J. ran for 10,183 yards and 57 touchdowns. He ran for 1,251 yards, 2,003 yards, 1,125 yards, 1,817 yards, and 1,503 yards in a five-year span from 1972 to 1976. In 1973, he rushed for 2,003 yards in 14 games, making him the NFL’s most prolific runner. It didn’t help that rookie quarterback Joe Ferguson completed just 44.5% of his throws for 939 yards and four touchdowns.

3. Joe Cribbs

Joe was drafted out of Auburn in the second round of the 1980 draft. Running for 1,185 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie in Buffalo made him a household name.  Joe decided to leave Buffalo and join the USFL because he didn’t enjoy his time there. The Bills tried to enforce their right of first refusal, but they lost, and Cribbs was forced to go.

4. Cookie Gilchrist

When it comes to fullbacks, he may be the greatest ever to play the game.  CFL was a great league at the time because there were only 12 teams in the NFL. In addition to running back and linebacker, Cookie was an all-time great player.

5. Travis Henry

Throughout his career, Henry has amassed 3,849 yards and 27 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 4.0 yards per carry. Fred Jackson eventually outgrew him. In 2002, he was nominated for the Pro Bowl after amassing 1,438 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
