George Krieger Kittle is an American football tight end for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He was born on October 9, 1993. He attended the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and was taken in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named to the 2019 NFL First Team All-Pro.

Kittle was born in Madison, Wisconsin, but grew up in Iowa. He attended Iowa City West High School, Cedar Falls High School, and Norman High School, all in Iowa City, Iowa. He made a college football commitment to the University of Iowa. Bruce Kittle, his father, is a former college football coach who also played at Iowa.

Kittle played for Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa Hawkeyes from 2012 to 2016. Kittle played a supporting role as a freshman, behind seniors C. J. Fiedorowicz, Ray Hamilton, and Jake Duzey.
Against the Missouri State Bears, he had his first collegiate reception, a 47-yarder. He grabbed five passes for a total of 108 yards and a touchdown.

For Kittle’s 2014 season, Iowa’s tight end unit remained packed. In addition to Hamilton and Duzey’s return, junior Henry Krieger-Coble bolstered the depth chart.
