Matthew Harper never played in the NFL. He only served as a coach for most NFL teams. He played football when he was in college.
Andrew Matthew Harper was born on November 26, 1984, and is an American football coach who is currently serving as the Assistant Special Teams Coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He was born in Secaucus, New Jersey.
In his prior coaching positions, he worked with the City College of San Francisco, the Oregon Ducks, and the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2005, he was named to the First Team All-NorCal Conference as well as being named to the All-America team.
In 2017, he and the Philadelphia Eagles were victorious in Super Bowl LII. Upon joining the San Francisco 49ers in 2021, he was promoted to Assistant Special Teams Coach.
Harper began his collegiate career at City College of San Francisco, where he played for two seasons in the football program. Harper played defensive back for the Ducks for two years (2006-07), compiling 98 tackles, 12 passes defended, three interceptions, 2.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
After two years at City College of San Francisco, he transferred to Oregon State University (2004-05). He was named First Team All-NorCal Conference and All-America in 2005 after recording 95 tackles and seven interceptions.
