Why Did Sam Madison Donate His Kidney?
Madison was a stalwart cornerback with the Dolphins for nine of his twelve seasons in the NFL. Kennedy, who aspired to be an Olympic gymnast, was inspired by her father’s physical ability.
She noticed something peculiar in December of last year.
She explained, “I was at gymnastics, and my legs were swelled.”
Sam took his daughter to the doctor for a checkup once the swelling had reached her midsection. The news that her kidneys were failing astounded him and his wife.
He said, “You sit here like… it’s serious business.” “Something must be done to ensure that she returns to us in good health.”
“You want to crash, but you can’t because there’s work to be done,” Sam’s wife and Kennedy’s mother, Saskia Madison, explained.
Sam and his daughter underwent surgery in early September. Three days before her 11th birthday, she underwent a kidney transplant. Kennedy acknowledges that it was a really excellent present.
“I think he’s extremely brave, and he’s very lucky and thrilled he did it for me,” Kennedy remarked.
Both dad and daughter have made excellent progress since the transplant. Kennedy is being home-schooled since she cannot be in crowds.
