Anarumo worked as a graduate assistant at Syracuse University from 1990 to 1991. He was a part-time running backs coach at Wagner College from January to June 1990.
From September 1989 to January 1990, he worked at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the same capacity.
From 1995 until 2000, Anarumo was an assistant head coach at Harvard University, where he worked with the defensive backs and coordinated the special teams.
He was the defensive coordinator and DBs coach at the US Merchant Marine Academy from 1992 to 1994.
Anarumo was the defensive backs coach at Marshall University from 2001 to 2003, where he led the squad to a 30-8 record in three seasons.
