How Many Numbers Have the Jackson Jaguars Retired?
The Jaguars are quite young compared to how old some teams have been in existence. Notwithstanding, the Jaguars haven’t retired any number.
In general, 0 numbers have been retired. But according to some searches, the number 71 worn by offensive tackle Tony Boselli, the Jaguars’ first-ever draft pick, has not been worn since his retirement in 2002.
According to team officials, while the number is not in circulation, the number (along with Fred Taylor’s number 28) is officially available for use if the circumstances warrant it.
Also, numbers 0 and 00 are no longer allowed, but were not retired in honor of any particular player, since the NFL’s positional numbering system, imposed in 1973, does not allocate a position for players
