The Boston Red Sox is a team in American Baseball League which was founded in 1901. The 2020 Boston Red Sox season was their 120th in the team’s history and their 109th season at the Fenway Park, where they play their home games.

They entered the new Spring Training with new set of leadership in baseball operations, Chaim Bloom, and a new field manager, Ron Roenicke.

Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which forced many football activities to be shut down, the MLB announced that the regular season would be delayed for at least two weeks in addition to the remainder of spring training being cancelled.

However, on July 1, a regular-season was announced by the MLB with 60 games to be played after the recommendation made by the CDC to restrict events of more than 50 people for eight weeks.

The Boston Red Sox kicked off their season with a clash with Baltimore Orioles at home on July 24. They suffered their 31st lost on September 12, assuring them of finishing the season with a losing record, their first since 2015.

Before the Boston Red Sox’s final regular season game, they announced that Roenicke would not return as manager for the 2021 season.

They ended the season with a record of 24 wins and 36 losses, finishing in last place in the American League East division, 16 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Boston’s.
